The Chardonnay fruit was harvested in late September for the Estate Vineyard site and early November for Areté. With the extended hang time from both vineyard sites, we had a great maturity in the fruit with a nice undertone of acidity. Because of the bright fruit character of these great vineyard sites, we used the PDM yeast strain on both lots to round out the mouthfeel. All of the grapes were fermented in stainless steel upright fermenters. No malolactic fermentation took place to retain the racy fruit flavors and maintain the natural bright acidity.
Bright and layered aromas of green apple, peach, and tropical fruit, with a nice touch of nutmeg and mineral on the nose. This wine intrigues you with a great diversity of flavors on the palate, from mangos, nectarine, and green bananas to a slight hint of slate. Very well-balanced wine with a nice touch of acidity on the bright long finish.
