Overview

TASTE OF THE WAHLUKE SLOPE

Set: $75.00 / Wine Club: $65.00

Blend/Vineyard Notes

The major distinguishing feature of the Wahluke Slope is its uniformity in aspect, soil type, and climate. The entire appellation lies on a broad, south-facing slope with a constant, gentle grade of less than 8%. This, along with the proximity to the Columbia River, helps minimize the risk of frost, which can affect other areas of the state. Wahluke Slope has one of the driest, warmest climates in the state, allowing nearly complete control of vine vigor and ripening through irrigation.

Tasting Notes

2015 Reserve Coyote Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Coyote Vineyard, Wahluke Slope.

Aromatics of blueberry, plum, and leather with an undertone of eucalyptus on the nose. On the palate black currant, black cherry, clove, and spice alongside dark chocolate that lingers on this complex palate.  With firm dusty lush tannins that are balanced by a nice touch of oak, acidity and fresh tobacco and molasses on the finish, this is a very opulent and layered Cabernet Sauvignon that will age nicely.

2015 Wahluke Slope Red Blend: 55% Grenache, 41% Syrah, 4% Mourvedre

Aromatics of red plum, marionberry, vanilla and spice, followed by a hint of floral and minerality. The palate delivers a lush layer of plum and dried cherries, followed by notes of cocoa powder, sage and lingering spice. This wine is very elegant with fine tannins and a well-balanced mouth feel.

2016 Reserve Katherine Leone Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Katherine Leone Vineyard, Wahluke Slope.

Black cherry and plum, vanilla-bean, cedar and spice with an undertone of eucalyptus on the nose. These enticing aromatics lead into dense flavors of black currant, black cherry, roasted coffee bean and spice alongside dark chocolate that lingers on this complex palate. With firm dusty lush tannins that are balanced by a nice touch of oak, acidity and fresh tobacco and spice on the finish.
